The Company

EarthSense was formed with the sole aim of enabling the world to understand and solve its air quality issues. We intend to help by providing the most detailed global air quality information, showing real-time exposure and actionable future forecasting that enables decisions and mitigation, for the betterment of human health.

Providing a number of data, software and hardware services, our dynamic team has unparalleled air quality expertise in sensor design, pollution modelling and analysis and we use this to provide advice and support to government and industry globally.


Air quality is a fast-growing area of operation and EarthSense has helped the likes of BBC and ITV promote the dangers of breathing poor air, along with all of our blue-chip, global clients who are taking positive steps to reduce air pollution.

As an outcome of our fast growth, we are looking to recruit a number of highly capable and ambitious individuals, who will enable the next stage of our business evolution, establishing key positions in our exciting company.

As such, we are looking for an experienced operations lead to further develop and maintain our processes and practices for manufacture, stock management, delivery, support, maintenance and field work including building the appropriate delivery team. The role will involve flexible working with regular travel to our head office at Space Park Leicester with some travel to our local manufacturing facility, work sites and customer offices. The successful candidate will report directly to the Managing Director.

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 p.a. (dependent on experience) plus bonus and company benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working closely with senior management you will have ultimate responsibility and ownership for operational process design, implementation, management, improvement & communication in the following areas:

    • Stock manufacture

    • Stock management

    • Goods in and out

    • Hardware supplier management

    • Customer delivery, communication, and management

    • Ownership of new hardware/firmware roll out

    • Hardware returns, refurbishment & rentals

    • Waste management

    • Field work management process and practice

    • Sensor fleet management

    • Support resolution, communication, and management.

    • Risk management

  • Build a highly engaged and talented team

  • Team management and engagement including remote workers

  • Ensure health and safety is culturally adhered too in all business activity

  • Assist in mitigating company risks as part of day-to-day activity

  • Ensure quality management procedures are considered in all business activity in line with ISO 9001 and 14001

  • Consider cost as part of all work practices

  • Making recommendations to the senior management

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications Sought:


  • Excellent ability to build and manage a high performing team

  • Strong operational skills preferably in a technology field such as computer science or engineering.

  • Proven history of successful operational delivery in a technology sector

  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrate good organisational skills including attention to detail

  • Strong ability to multi-task

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft O365

  • Good problem-solving skills

  • Full clean driving licence


  • Degree in a relevant subject

  • Understanding of air quality monitoring and modelling techniques

  • Geospatial knowledge

  • Knowledge of electronics and hardware manufacturing processes and best practice

  • Experience in supply chain management

  • Experience of managing fieldwork teams.
