EarthSense Sponsors Local Authority & Public Sector Air Quality Initiative of the Year

For the second year running EarthSense were proud to sponsor this year’s Local Authority & Public Sector Air Quality Initiative of the Year award as part of the National Air Quality Awards.

The winner, Birmingham City Council was presented the award by Prof. Roland Leigh, Technical Director of EarthSense at the awards ceremony in London last night.

Backed by funding from the Department for Transport, Birmingham City Council converted 65 diesel black cabs to run on liquefied petroleum gas. These new vehicles have significantly reduced emissions and been met with a warm welcome by the drivers.


Prof. Leigh commented: “It’s inspiring to see the creative solutions implemented by local authorities to improve air quality. Recognition of innovation and genuine progress in this area is essential to respond to public interest and ensure that best practice is shared across the industry. Congratulations again to Birmingham City Council.”
