EarthSense Team Welcomes First Ever Summer Intern!
Updated: Jun 27, 2019
We are delighted to introduce you to our 2018 summer intern, Oliver Crask. Oliver will be working with us here at EarthSense HQ in Leicester over the summer months.
Life in a dynamic SME
Oliver works closely with all members of the team; from our talented software developers to marketing and sales personnel, giving him a sneak peek into life in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary company. With one-to-one mentoring and research insight into the world of air quality and satellite data services, we hope that Oliver will gain a wealth of technical skills and experience as a fully-integrated member of the team.
Space and satellite data
In his first week, Oliver has already led the production of the UK’s first weekly maps from Sentinel 5 Precursor. Straight to the cutting edge of technology, these activities highlight the potential for skilled space scientists to inform key societal issues.
Over the past 12 months, Oliver has been on placement at world leading small satellite company Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd.
Gaining insight into satellite design and development, he applies these skills to a range of stimulating tasks here at EarthSense.
Some of these include learning about how satellite products can be used from an air quality perspective and comparison of ground sensor readings with recent satellite data.
Recognising rising stars
We are proud to work with the University of Leicester in recognising the brightest new minds in academia. We believe in providing the opportunities in entrepreneurial industry to build the skill and confidence that graduates need to be successful in their careers and we hope that Oliver’s time with EarthSense will help springboard him into his future career.
