MappAir® Data Supports Postcode Search of Air Pollution Exposure

EarthSense, the air quality specialist is working with air and water purification specialist, Aqua Perfecta to provide air quality levels for UK postcodes and advise on air purifying solutions that reduce indoor pollution exposure.

EarthSense will provide Aqua Perfecta with data from its MappAir® API to support a UK postcode checker for customers to measure air pollution and help the company offer advice on air purifying products. The data will enable customers to identify nitrogen dioxide (NO2), ozone (O3), sulphur dioxide (SO2), particulate matter PM2.5 and PM10 concentrations at their homes, using the online postcode checker.

The postcode checker will provide an option for users to receive a free report with detail on another 40+ potential pollutants, five of which are supplied by the MappAir® model, highlighting pollution levels at the location in question. The Aqua Perfecta postcode checker will also compare concentrations at the postcode with the rest of the UK.

Aqua Perfecta will use the data gathered by EarthSense to provide guidance to users on relevant indoor air purification products that can help to improve air quality and lower exposure within homes before sending out engineers to fit the measures.

Aqua Perfecta Sales Director Mike King said: “‘EarthSense’s invaluable data and air pollution measurement services, delivered via MappAir®, generate vital insights which allow us to educate our customers and provide real, actionable solutions with our range of intelligent air purifiers.

“Access to advanced data provided by EarthSense means that, as an air purification solution provider, we can locate those who are most in need of our products from national right down to postcode level. The data insights also help us to raise awareness of what is currently a growing problem across many areas of the UK,” continued King.

“MappAir® is an air quality model available on a city, national or global resolution, which uses a range of data inputs including weather, traffic, and Zephyr® sensor data to provide hourly information regarding a range of pollutants including NO2, SO2 and particulate matter PM2.5 and PM10. Using this data allows us to inform our customers and provide guidance on indoor purification solutions that can clean poor air in their homes and places of work, creating a cleaner and healthier environment for them,” King concluded.

EarthSense Managing Director, Tom Hall commented: “Combining our high accuracy modelled air quality data with a postcode look-up, and providing downloadable reports ensures members of the public receive total clarity concerning pollution levels at their homes. This helps them decide what action to take in order to minimise their exposure with Aqua Perfecta’s air purifying solutions.”

Hall continued: “Working with Aqua Perfecta to deliver information and guidance on how individuals can reduce pollution exposure within domestic spaces means we’re able to open up wider conversations regarding the importance of clean air and lowering the risks of related issues, such as asthma, COPD and diabetes. Encouraging these types of conversations means communities can come together to spread awareness and contribute to the wider picture for long term changes towards healthier towns and cities.”
