NEVFMA
Enhancing traffic flow and reducing emissions in Oxford through the use of EarthSense’s MappAir® city pollution model and a network of 18 Zephyr® air quality monitors for Network Emissions / Vehicle
Flow Management Adjustment.
Network Emissions/Vehicle Flow Management Adjustment (NEVFMA), a project funded by Highways England, led by Aimsun with EarthSense, Oxfordshire County Council and Yunex Traffic; the new name for Siemens Mobility.
The project saw the consortium work together to enhance traffic flow and reduce emissions in Oxford through the use of EarthSense’s MappAir® city pollution model and a network of 18 Zephyr® air quality monitors. Aimsun’s traffic model was integrated with MappAir® to provide historic and forecast data of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) sources and trends to understand the impact of traffic congestion on air quality around the city. The addition of Zephyr® monitors meant the partners received real-time pollution data for NO2, fine particle matter (PM2.5), ozone (O3) and nitric oxide (NO) for specific locations throughout Oxford within the model.
