EarthSense Partner with Valmont Industries as Global Distributor of the Zephyr® Air Quality Monitor

Updated: Jun 13, 2023

EarthSense, the air quality expert, has today announced its partnership with the global leader in infrastructure and agriculture technology, Valmont Industries.

Valmont Industries is a global leader, designer and manufacturer that provides vital infrastructure and advances in agricultural productivity while driving innovation through technology. The new partnership sees Valmont Industries as EarthSense’s new global distributor of the Zephyr® air quality monitor as part of a strategic effort to develop networks of Smart Solutions that will help work towards safer, more sustainable cities.

Valmont Industries will work with municipalities, local governments, and other sectors such as construction, engineering and intelligent transport systems across America and the rest of the world to provide smart infrastructure with integrated value-added solutions. It will add Zephyr® monitors into its smart solutions portfolio, which will enhance the richness and depth of information about air quality, public safety, traffic control and parking management. Zephyr® data will provide live measurements for harmful gases and pollutants, such as nitric oxide (NO), nitrogen dioxide NO2), ozone (O3), hydrogen sulphide (H2S) and particulate matter (PM1, PM2.5, PM10), delivering insights into air pollution concentrations, hotspots, sources, and more.

Smart, integrated solutions will enable end users to make evidence-based decisions for reducing harmful impacts on the general public and environment as well as helping change behaviours linked to the exposure of harmful pollutants. This will include identifying areas where high levels of traffic are causing increased air pollution, using traffic controls to divert vehicles away from such areas, or correlating the relationship between pollution sources, meteorological conditions, and how it affects personal exposure across a city.

End users will be able to access, analyse and download air quality data using EarthSense’s MyAir® web application to view Zephyr® measurements. The smart city platform enables its users to receive a complete picture of air quality alongside associated factors such as temperature, humidity, air pressure, and information regarding upcoming projects.

Vice President of Technology Commercialisation at Valmont, Dan Witt said:” Valmont takes our mission of conserving resources and improving lives seriously. That means being good stewards of all resources, including air. This partnership will allow us to provide integrated solutions to municipalities and others looking to understand where and how to improve air quality.”

The Zephyr® is an award-winning, certified air quality monitor that measures harmful gases and particulate matter in real-time. Units can be deployed with solar panels, internal batteries or hardwired to identify air pollution levels at localised levels such as hotspots at busy road junctions or at construction sites or can be used as part of extensive networks to receive city-wide insights for guiding strategic decisions for developing smarter, cleaner cities and towns.

Tom Hall, CEO at EarthSense said: “The quality of the air we breathe isn’t something that people generally think about on a day-to-day basis, but we do know that air quality has a significant impact on health, especially in the more vulnerable populations.”

Hall continued: “Partnering with Valmont Industries will help to bring air quality into the infrastructure discussion on a large scale. Providing smart, highly valuable technology and software services will ensure that customers are able to understand why, how and where air pollution is forming and work to identify the best methods for reducing harmful levels.”
